Gene Sulzberger is a Miami native and attorney with more than 25 years of experience in financial services and wealth planning. Gene is dedicated to helping his clients meet their financial planning goals. Gene is a CFP®. Gene holds the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners certificate as a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner. He also holds the ADPA certificate as an accredited domestic partnership advisor.

In May 2015, Gene started his own investment advisory firm, Sulzberger Capital Advisors, where he provides customized investment solutions for U.S. and international clients.

Gene earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Finance in 1986 from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1991.

Gene has been well-established in the Greater Miami community for years. Gene currently serves on the University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences’ Dean’s Advisory Committee and Equality Florida’s Miami Steering Committee. Gene also serves on the board of GableStage, sits on the community board for the University of Miami AIDS Research Institute, and is active with the University of Miami Citizens Board and the University of Miami’s Estate and Gift Planning Council. He serves on the board of South Florida’s LGBTQ community foundation, the Our Fund Foundation, and is active on the Miami steering committee for Equality Florida. Other local nonprofit boards that Gene has served on include the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation, the Vizcayans, and Tigertail Productions.

In 2007, Gene received the Twelve Good Men honor, awarded to outstanding community leaders in Miami-Dade County by Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida. In 2021, the University of Miami awarded Gene the Joyce Galya Excellence Award for his service to the university and the Alum of the Year Award from their Toppel Center. In 2022, the University of Miami bestowed upon Gene their highest honor, Iron Arrow.

Gene used to compete in triathlons and long-distance road races. He qualified and competed twice for the US national championships of sprint triathlon. Gene was also an avid tennis player having formerly been ranked in Florida.

Gene was previously a contributing editor in wealth management to Attorney at Law magazine’s Miami edition.

In addition to working at senior levels at EFG Capital Advisors (formerly PRS Investment Advisory), BNY Mellon Wealth Management, and SunTrust’s Private Wealth division, Gene practiced law in Miami, focusing his practice on estate planning and trust and probate administration.
